Back to School style

Back to School Style

Can you believe it’s already August? This summer has come and gone in the blink of an eye. Back to school also means back to school shopping! I have two little ones so that means new backpacks, lunchboxes, shoes, clothes, etc! I’ll share a post tomorrow about kids back to school ideas that I currently love! Today I’m going to talk about teacher back to school style and share some great deals I’ve found this summer!

My go to styles during the late summer/ fall typically include dresses, skirts, cardigans, and sandals while I can still see sneak them in! Mornings start to get cooler but the afternoons are still typically hot so I like to layer at this time of the year!

First: This white eyelet dress from J. Crew factory! You can find it Here. I found it on clearance with an extra discount and it ended up being like $20! Also did you know that J Crew offers a teacher discount? You can also use it online and it’s really easy to sign up for!

Next up, these adorable Black Sandals from J Crew Factory! Again I scored these at an amazing price and also used my teacher discount.

Next is this Pretty skirt from J Crew Factory (again haha!). I bought this earlier in the spring and it’s so cute with a white shirt tucked in and a denim jacket!! Perfect for cool mornings!

Last are these super comfortable Flats from Target! These will be so perfect with dresses, dress pants and even jeans!

I love finding pieces that I can wear with many different things and also wear for a long time! Some other places that I love are Old Navy and Gap! Both are having great sales too!

*Nothing on this post is sponsored! All opinions are my own!

Thanks for reading! Let me know what your favorite back to school styles include

Fire Safety

Last week we learned all about fire safety! We read lots of books about firefighters, what they do, and what to do if there's a fire in our home.  Here are just a few of the things we did for fire safety week:

We learned how to stop, drop, and roll if our clothes catch on fire.

We sorted items into hot & cold categories.

Our math center was to count the fire objects and write the numbers.

We listened to "Curious George At The Fire Station" at the listening center.

One of our word work centers was "Write the room" with fire words.

The local fire department came to visit! The students got to see the fire truck and go into the smoke house to learn how to crawl out of a house that's on fire!

We learned new sight words.

We used dice to roll and color numbers to 6.

We made fire safety hats to celebrate fire prevention week!:)

This week we are learning all about apples!

Weather And Seasons

We spent the last two weeks learning about weather and the four seasons! I always love teaching this unit because it can be incorporated into just about every content area.

We made a few small readers about clouds and different types of weather.

I incorporated weather into my math center with this spin and graph activity. They loved spinning the spinner and graphing the weather picture it landed on!

Our word work center #1 was a pocket chart writing activity. The students completed each sentence with the correct weather word.

We listened to "Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs" at the listening center.

Word Work #2 was a write the room activity with weather words.

We also made a list poem and a cute cloud craft to go with it!

We also made a weather book to show all of the different types of weather we learned about! Here is the rainbow page! :)

Next up, Fire Safety!

Fun With Colors

We spent the end of August and fist week of September learning all about colors. Here are some of the fun ways we incorporated color words into our day.

We did a poem for each color in our poetry notebooks. It was the perfect way to introduce poetry into our curriculum!

We also made a few different emergent readers that incorporated sight words and color words!

We incorporated colors into center time with a Write the Room activity and a sorting activity.

The students love finding the pictures hidden around the room and writing the words they find!

We also made a texture book based on "Brown Bear, Brown Bear". I compiled all of the pages at the end and added a cover!
Here are some of the pages:

A red glitter bird.

Construction Paper and foam fish!

Yellow feather duck!

We painted our frogs with marshmallows! They loved it!!

Blue yarn horse!

Purple tissue paper cat!

We painted the bear with puffy brown paint!

Cotton ball dog!

Black crepe paper sheep!

We also met Pete The Cat! We listened to "I love My White Shoes" and made a Pete the Cat craft with our favorite shoe color!

We are finishing up our weather and seasons unit this week! I can't wait to share all of the fun things we've done this month!

What's Your Name?

We spent some time during the first week of school learning each other's names, as well as practicing our own.

We made self portraits and wrote about one thing that we liked.

We practiced building our names, and graphed how many letters we each have in our names. Then we analyzed the data.

We also bingo dotted our names and measured them with links and cubes.

This week we are learning all about colors! I can't wait to share all of the fun activities we will be working on! :)
